Margaret Street reimagines the suburban landscape, challenging conventional notions of front yards and driveways by transforming them into immersive, experience-driven spaces. Here, the landscape is not an afterthought, but an integral design element that redefines the relationship between movement, arrival, and everyday living.

At the front of the property, the driveway transcends its utilitarian purpose—becoming a crafted, spatial experience rather than a surface to be passed over. Through the strategic integration of softscape and groundcover, what is traditionally a monolithic stretch of concrete is softened and rearticulated, guiding visitors through a layered, garden-like entry. This blending of function and form elevates the threshold into something both welcoming and unexpected.

In the backyard, the design continues its mission of multifunctionality. A custom fireplace is set within a series of cascading planters, creating a sculptural focal point that merges warmth, texture, and planting into a single gesture. This integration of vertical greenery and hearth not only anchors the yard but enriches the sensory experience—inviting gathering, solitude, and seasonal change.

Throughout the project, rhythms and repetitions subtly inform the spatial language. A screen wall—designed with inspiration drawn from musical rhythm—adds both privacy and poetic structure, creating a visual cadence that echoes the client’s personal connection to music and movement.
